Denmark's state nature authority Naturstyrelsen has cancelled the lease agreement with the German island landlord. Future of the island uncertain

The large oxen island will not be farmed in future. As the "Flensburger Tageblatt" reports the last resident, remaining from a consortium of five German tenants, has to leave the island after the lease is cancelled.

Island can still be approached and entered by sailors

The island, which once housed a shipyard, a campsite and an inn, remains open to the public. According to the last tenant, however, the empty buildings are already being plundered at night.

The ferry has not been running for a long time

After the ferry line was cancelled, the accessibility guaranteed in the lease agreement could no longer be guaranteed. It is currently unclear whether a management concept will be implemented in the foreseeable future.
