The approach is silted up between buoy 4 and the pier heads on both sides of the fairway
The harbour of refuge and refuge on the coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is increasingly silting up again, and the approach has already become increasingly shallow

At the very start of the sunny season on the Baltic coast, the BSH is once again reporting the increasing silting up of the harbour. The official statement reads:

"According to information from SK 'Theo Fischer', the approach to the Darßer Ort port of refuge from buoy '4' to the piers is characterised by shallow depths on both sides of the fairway. In the area between buoy '4' and the red pier light, siltation to the point of falling dry is evident."

Yachts calling at the port of refuge should keep as close to the centre of the fairway as possible. An enquiry to the crew of the DGzRS rescue cruiser "Theo Fischer" revealed that with the current easterly winds, the silting is progressing rapidly. However, with a draught of around 1.5 metres, the rescue cruiser is currently still able to pass through the entrance without grounding. However, no crew should rely on the depth of three metres in the channel, which was created after the last dredging.
