Chartering with the Folke
A new provider from Hamburg offers freshly refitted wooden folk boats for charter. The boats are available on the Elbe and Baltic Sea

The newly founded, small company "Klassisch am Wind" has specialised in the nautical roots of many North German sailors: the Nordic folkboat. Generations grew up with the seaworthy and pretty boat with the beautiful lines, made their first trips on it and sailed in regattas. Whole families sailed it far into the waters of Sweden and Norway. Now you can charter two freshly refurbished examples from the sixties, called "Maj" and "Mumi", from the new company, and a third boat is due to be added soon.

The boats are available in Hamburg and on the Baltic Sea and can be booked for whole weeks as well as weekend charters. The starting harbours are Wedel and Kiel for the time being, but can also be kept flexible, as so-called chain trips are planned, especially on the Baltic Sea: The lead crew sails the ship from Kiel to a chosen destination harbour, the next crew then takes over there and sails on. This means that destinations in Denmark, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania or elsewhere are also conceivable - depending on the customer's cruise ideas.

The boats are of course available with the typical Folkeboot accessories such as cockpit cake stand, spirit cooker, paraffin lamps etc. Depending on the season, a weekend charter costs 299 to 349 euros, a whole week 669 to 749 euros. Information on the website "Classic on the wind".
