The saying "Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today!" is a German classic that is usually used in connection with work and appeals to people not to put off tasks and duties. It is based on the idea that completing work immediately increases efficiency and productivity. In my opinion, this aphorism can just as easily be applied to our personal goals and dreams: life is finite, so why wait to realise your dreams?
Michael Rieber, who set off on a seven-month single-handed cruise to the Lofoten Islands in northern Norway in his 8.25 metre long sea cruiser "Moby Dick" - and returned with an inspiring story and wonderful experiences. A story about a 3,162 nautical mile sailing trip that will inspire you to follow suit.
The Lofoten Islands are also a favourite destination among YACHT editors. The mixture of dramatic natural scenery, midnight sun, rich wildlife and authentic villages has a strong attraction that I have now also fallen for.
The Laufenberg family will log an impressive 27,000 nautical miles on their dream voyage, which started six months ago and will take the Hamburgers around the world by May next year. As part of the Oyster World Rally, 22 Oyster yachts will sail from Antigua to Antigua in this fourth edition of the event, similar to a flotilla. In between, 27 stops in the most beautiful sailing areas of our planet. Find out how the long voyage has gone so far in the interview.
You should be a YACHT volunteer. Hardly any of our long-standing colleagues and sailing experts get out and into their oilskins as often as our Nils Leiterholt. He recently took part in the "Round Skagen" - another great experience.
These are just three examples that will whet your appetite for an intensive life at sea.
