The world is full of attractive destinations for yachts. And yet there are harbours and places that stand out. Here we present ten of these destinations. This time the Lantau Yacht Club Marina in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is clearly visible from the higher elevations on Lantau Island. It is around twenty kilometres in a straight line across the wide bay of the South China Sea to Victoria Harbour, the waterfront and the centre of the city of eight million people with its soaring skyline and the restlessness in its shadow.

Lantau to the west, on the other hand, is pure tranquillity. Its natural surroundings with dense forests, shady paths and secluded sandy beaches have given the largest island in the Wanshan archipelago a fitting nickname: Hong Kong's green lung. It could hardly be better if you want to escape the hustle and bustle on land and let yourself drift on the water.

Part of a major construction project

It is therefore hardly surprising that the Lantau Yacht Club has chosen this location for its marina. The harbour with its solid pier is part of a large construction project on Discovery Bay and, embedded in the natural surroundings, offers all the amenities on land that guarantee a relaxing stay. In addition to a total of 148 berths, there are 38 for superyachts. The maximum length is 100 metres

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
