Turkish Aegean: The Gulf of Fethiye is back in The Moorings' programme after many years. From this summer, the charter company is offering holiday options with sailing and motor catamarans.

The Mooringsone of the largest international yacht charter companies, is expanding its programme in the eastern Mediterranean for the 2026 summer season: After a long absence, the Gulf of Fethiye in south-west Turkey is back in the programme.

Manageable distances

The compact area on the eastern edge of the Aegean is characterised by nature and offers well-protected bays and several offshore islands. At its entrance, the width of the gulf is just seven nautical miles, while the depth is around eight. The distances on the mostly calm waters are therefore very manageable and ensure relaxed, short day trips with largely uncomplicated navigation.

Catamarans with sail or motor

From the base in Fethiye (around 200 kilometres southwest of Antalya and its international airport), two sailing catamarans, TM 4600-5 and TM 5200-6, as well as a TM 464PC Powercat - with and without skipper - are available. The boats are designed for crews of eight to twelve people.

Attractions include numerous archaeological sites on land as well as the cliffs near the island of Gemiler and the Blue Lagoon near Ölüdeniz. Fethiye itself combines modern yachting infrastructure with ancient ruins and lively local Turkish culture.

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
