Large yachts moor at the Club de Mar harbour in Mallorca. The harbour in the west of Palma's historic old town has been attracting owners and charter guests for a good five decades. Around 70 million euros had been budgeted for the long overdue renovation. Also on the list was a new clubhouse with shops, catering and an exclusive area for members. Club de Mar President José Luis Arrom explained in an interview the details. The facility is now ready for the big shows of the 2025 season.
There is, for example, the Palma International Boat Show, which has to expand its exhibition centre in order to meet the high demand. The 5,000 square metre marina is connected to the Moll Vell exhibition area by floating shuttles. The journey takes around five minutes.
The organisers had spent a long time looking for alternatives to accommodate more exhibitors and yachts. In the end, the organisers reached an agreement with the Club de Mar, where yachts between 40 and 100 metres in length can moor, with some spaces reserved for giga formats over 100 metres. An exhibition area for design offices, shipyards, service providers, chandlers and refit specialists will be created on land.
The Palma International Boat Show takes place from 30 April to 3 May 2025 and looks back on more than forty years of history. The trade fair kicks off the water sports season in the Mediterranean and attracts an average of 30,000 visitors and more than 280 exhibitors to Palma de Mallorca every year.
The Superyacht Cup Palma 2025 (25 to 28 June) will be relocated to the renovated club grounds. The move to the centrally located marina brings the yachts, owners and crews together right next to the lively SYC Race Village. This year, two Baltic 68 Café Racers and the Southern Wind 108 "Gelliceaux" are expected on the starting line for the first time.
