Three companies are keen to operate the Pantalán del Mediterráneo in the Port of Palma in future. Alongside the current concessionaire, Amarres Deportivos, Tanit Ibiza Port and La Azulona have also submitted bids to the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) for 2023.
The Pantalán del Mediterráneo is situated on Palma’s Paseo Marítimo, opposite the Edificio Mediterráneo, and is designed to accommodate larger yachts: according to the current operator, it offers 61 berths for boats and yachts between 15 and 120 metres in length. The concession put out to tender covers a total of 21,379 square metres of public harbour area. The term is set at a maximum of eight years. The minimum annual fee for the use of the area is 452,442.08 euros plus VAT.
The applicants: three experienced operators
Amarres Deportivos is the current operator of the Pantalán and is therefore applying for the concession to be renewed. The company also operates parts of the Moll Vell in Palma. The APB had already rejected an application to extend the existing concession back in 2023. In June 2026, the port authority confirmed the decision and set the re-tendering process in motion.
The second bidder, Tanit Ibiza Port, is part of the IPM Group. Among other things, the group operates Marina Port de Mallorca, Marina Ibiza and Marina Port Mahón, as well as several other marinas and shipyards in the Balearic Islands.
La Azulona 2023 is also a relatively new operator. The company took over the concession for the 391 berths on the north side of Maó harbour in 2024. The company is managed by Alejandro Entrecanales Marsans. The concession in Maó involved plans for a comprehensive modernisation of the facilities, with investments totalling more than 8.8 million euros.
A decision in Palma is still pending
The APB has initially reviewed the submitted documentation and admitted all three bidders to the next stage of the process. The technical proposals and operational plans have now also been opened. These will now be assessed by a specialist committee. Subsequently, the financial aspects of the bids will be opened and evaluated.
