Forty additional moorings for pleasure boats are to be created in Altwarp harbour. The local council approved the expansion on 29 September 2026. The cost of this project is estimated at around 500,000 euros.

The municipality’s harbour, in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald, is situated on Lake Neuwarper, a bay on the southern edge of the Szczecin Lagoon. According to a NDR report Further work on the harbour area is due to follow at a later date. This includes the demolition of old warehouses dating from the era of the so-called ‘butter runs’ to Poland, said Mayor Jan Herzfeld. No start date has yet been announced for the construction of the new berths.

On the opposite side of Lake Neuwarp lies the Polish town of Nowe Warpno, around 0.7 nautical miles from Altwarp. A seasonal ferry service operates between the two towns. Yachts travelling via the Szczecin Lagoon and the River Oder to Szczecin or further south towards Berlin will find the last ferry in Altwarp; in the opposite direction, it is the first ferry on the route to the Baltic Sea. This provides additional moorings for the cruise through the The Szczecin Lagoon and Western Pomerania Interesting. It is not yet clear whether and when guests will be able to use the new seats.

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
