Boaters are known to have a special connection to the water and are often looking for suitable property. If you want to live on the water without losing your strong connection to the land, pile dwellings are a good choice. Once designed as a structural protection measure against flooding, modern pile dwellings have a special charm: you live directly on the water, but at the same time enjoy all the advantages of living on land.
This is made possible by elaborate architectural designs such as the "Seeperlen" residential project in Harlesiel on the North Sea initiated by SVB boss Thomas Stamann. Here, eleven residential buildings are currently being built along the eastern promenade of the inland harbour, five of which are semi-detached and six detached. The living space is between 130 and 140 square metres. The great thing about this is that boat owners can moor their own vessel right on their doorstep. Depending on the size and fittings, the purchase prices are between 430,000 and 730,000 euros.
If you would like to try out this new form of living first, for example on holiday, you will find it in Neustadt on the Baltic Sea. The "Kyst" holiday homes are located in one of Germany's leading Baltic Sea marinas, Ancora Marina, which has around 1,400 berths. Kyst 1" is a pile construction leaning against the shore, while "Kyst 2" is a thoroughbred "floating home" based on concrete floats. Both buildings are almost identical in terms of room layout and offer around 120 square metres of living space on two floors. Fantastic views included.
Equipped with a fireplace and sauna, among other things, the Kyst houses leave nothing to be desired and are ideal for getting to grips with the topic of "living on the water" as a holiday guest. Depending on the house and season, rental prices start at around 410 euros for the first night, with subsequent nights being cheaper. If you want to arrive on your own keel, you will find suitable moorings in the marina just a few metres away.
