A new marina, the "Newport Marina", is due to open in the heart of Lübeck at the end of May 2017. The facility will be located on the banks of the River Trave not far from the Media Docks and the historic city centre.
The marina will offer space for 45 guest and fixed berths. New jetty facilities with modern supply technology will follow the course of the quay wall between the swing bridge and the media docks. The current Hansa Marina jetty in front of shed 6 will be dismantled.
A modern, floating service pontoon, which will house the harbour master's office, the sanitary facilities and a kitchen and laundry room for boat moorings, will provide both access to and the centre of the marina. The harbour will also include a bar with a club atmosphere and the "Newport Restaurant" with a terrace and glass pavilion, which is due to open at the end of June 2017.
"We will be an informal and communicative meeting place for pleasure boaters, Lübeck residents and tourists," says Ralf Schulte, investor and future operator of the new marina.
