Denmark: New closing times for the King Christian X Bridge
The municipality of Sønderborg closed the King Christian X. Bridge in May and June for repair work. Ships with a height of more than 4.5 metres will not be able to pass during certain periods. Passage under the arch field remains possible throughout with a height of five metres.

The King Christian X Bridge in Sonderborg is a bottleneck in the Belte and Sund area and separates the Alsensund from the Flensburg Outer Fjord. The structure will be partially closed for repair work in May and June. In order to maintain the operational safety and functionality of the bridge, cracks in the steel must be repaired and the decking on parts of the bascule bridge sections must be renovated. During the affected periods, the bridge flaps cannot open or can only open irregularly as work is being carried out on the underside of both flaps. Passage will remain possible with a clearance height of five metres during the entire period. The free headroom refers to the daily water level at zero elevation. The clearance height under the flap field is 4.5 metres. The municipality is planning the project in such a way that the disruption to commercial and recreational boating is minimised.

Most of the work under and on the bridge flaps has been completed. The remaining closures will take place at different times: On 4 and 5 June, the bridge will only open every two hours (otherwise every hour) between 6.45 am and 8.45 pm.
