The Marina City harbour project in Kolding is taking shape. According to local media reports, the first facilities at Marina Syd have been completed. These include a new waterfront promenade, a service building and coastal defences. Kolding is situated in the north of the Little Belt.
For water sports enthusiasts, the new slipway for dinghies and trailer boats, as well as a combined boat storage and events area, are of particular interest. According to the published information, several hundred boats can be stored there. The road links have also been upgraded and the speed limit reduced to 50 kilometres per hour to improve safety and reduce traffic noise.
The completed facilities are just the beginning. Further development is set to take place in phases, extending into the early 2030s. The plan is to consolidate the moorings at Kolding’s recreational boat harbour at Marina Syd. To this end, the boats from Marina Nord are also to be relocated to the new harbour area. The expansion plans envisage a marina with up to 1,000 moorings.
Part of the future site is yet to be developed: the plan is to enclose bodies of water and then gradually fill them in with earth. Facilities for houseboats, additional motorhome pitches and maritime businesses are also planned. In the long term, a new neighbourhood comprising up to 350 flats is to be built on the Kolding Fjord.
