Last weekend in the very north of Germany, someone dared to do something big: establish a new water sports fair. With success

A total of around 6,200 visitors found their way to the INSA Boatshow ("International Sailors Affairs Flensburg") in the Flens Arena over the three days of the trade fair. "We are indeed very satisfied with the trade fair," says co-organiser Sabine Fleischmann, "and not only we, but also our 93 exhibitors were very enthusiastic and almost all of them would like to come again."

Not only dealers and manufacturers, but also several clubs and associations presented themselves on an area of almost 5,000 square metres. The only shipyard to exhibit was Maritime fibre composite technology Haring (MFH) from Emden presented its brand new Tide 25. "We were very positively impressed by the many interested parties for the trailerable daysailer Tide 25," says Uwe Regensdorf, Managing Director of MFH. "Our Tide 25 was definitely the largest boat with the highest mast at INSA 2022, making it a real eye-catcher."

Some good contacts were also made, which could provide an opportunity for new customers. "Our small Tide 8 was also very popular due to its beautiful lines, and we had the opportunity to draw attention to our new Tide 36," says Regensdorf.

He was particularly pleased that even circumnavigator Wilfried Erdmann came to see his new boat. "He was very impressed by the design, the amount of space and the craftsmanship," reports Regensdorf.

Wilfried Erdmann, who had his own stand with his wife Astrid, was the real highlight of the fair. Because he had organised on its website and and in the YACHT announced that this would be his last official public appearance. For three days, Erdmann signed books at INSA, spoke to readers and fans and showed his fantastic travel pictures on the trade fair stage every day. "It was a really nice fair," says Astrid Erdmann, "the audience was shockingly warm and friendly. We had so many nice conversations that it sometimes brought tears to your eyes".

"The exhibitors felt very comfortable," says Sabine Fleischmann from INSA, "many reported successful business deals, boats sold and great new contacts that they were able to make here. A new network has been created that will be expanded over time."

A repeat of the trade fair next year is already firmly planned. However, it will then take place a week earlier, from 15 to 17 September 2023, "even with an extended indoor exhibition area and an additional in-water concept in the Flensburg Fjord, which we will be working on over the next few months," says Fleischmann.
