A new in-house exhibition entitled "Hamburg Boat Show" will be held at the A. W. Niemeyer branch in Hamburg tomorrow Friday, Saturday and Monday. The successor trade fair to Hanseboot was last held under this name - now the traditional water sports outfitter is taking over.
A little bit of everything
Almost 50 exhibitors are expected on the premises of the branch in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld. These include manufacturers of water sports clothing, boat paints and varnishes, fittings, safety equipment, electronics, boat trailers and insurance, as well as water sports publishers with nautical charts and area guides and boat dealers.
Two sailing boats, the Beneteau First 14 and First 24, will also be on display. A master sailmaker will be on hand to give tips on new sails and rigs.
Campaign in the anniversary year
The supporting programme also includes presentations by sailors. The young German regatta sailor Melwin Fink will talk about his preparations for the Mini-Transat 2021, for example, while Sheila Rietscher will talk about sailing around the world by hand against a bunk.
A. W. Niemeyer opens its remodelled Hamburg branch at the same time as the trade fair, which now has a large lifejacket wall. The Hamburg-based ship chandler is also celebrating its 275th anniversary. Since 1745, A. W. Niemeyer has been equipping ships. An interview with Sales Manager Michael Köther, who has played a key role in shaping the company's fortunes over the last 50 years, is published in the new YACHT 6/2020 published.
According to Managing Director Christoph Steinkuhl, the event will not be cancelled due to the coronavirus. "The Hamburg Boat Show will definitely take place," he told YACHT online this Thursday morning.
