Wally's experienced yacht builders have started building the hull in Forlì, Italy, which is laminated from prepreg carbon. Overall, the wallywind110 will displace just under 70 tonnes, measure 7.60 metres at its widest point and have a draught of 4.50 metres. The fixed keel has an upwind sail area of 595 square metres.
Thanks to the high bulwark, the 80 square metre cockpit and the forward and aft deck areas are low and well protected on the flush deck. "They are three times larger than normal and much safer than older formats due to their low position," emphasises Wally founder and chief designer Luca Bassani. "The wallywind110 is the equivalent of Grand Touring models in the automotive world," says Wally Managing Director Stefano de Vivo.
The third pillar of the project team is the Milan-based creative studio Santa Maria Magnolfi, which also provided design and interior input for the Wally 101. The brand, which is part of the Italian Ferretti Group, plans to launch the 33.42 metre-long Wallywind110 in May 2024.
