The Infiniti founders, Gordon Kay and Hugh Welbourn, patented the DSS foil system over ten years ago. The Dynamic Stability System from the British foil enthusiasts is based on a minimally curved wing that generates little drag and a lot of lift downwind. Its primary purpose is to stabilise and increase comfort. Although the Infiniti 105 is only supposed to displace 55 tonnes, around 25 tonnes (!) less than the 33-metre Baltic "WinWin", its hull will not come completely out of the water. According to Kay, the righting moment is 50 per cent higher and the overall performance 40 per cent higher than a yacht without DSS foils. Infiniti offers a cruising-orientated deck layout with plenty of seating areas or a spartan version for owners interested in racing. The crew uses a gennaker and Code 0 on the carbon fibre bowsprit. Six guests are accommodated in three suites. The owner's cabin is located in the bow, while the crew of four lives in two cabins in the stern.
