Is the yacht too big or the bridge too small? Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had to put up with this question for a long time. It is now clear that the Koningshaven Bridge in Rotterdam, whose central section rises a maximum of 40 metres into the air, will not be dismantled or rebuilt. Bezos is thus avoiding a huge mountain of bureaucracy and the announced "rotten egg attack". Under the cover of darkness, the 127-metre-long yacht travelled from Alblasserdam, where the three masts of the schooner rigging were already ready, behind the "De Hef" bridge built in 1878, where it will probably become the second largest sailing yacht in the world with the help of mobile cranes.
It has been known since the publication of Brad Stone's book "Amazon Unbound" that Oceanco is building a 127-metre sailing yacht for Jeff Bezos. With the exception of the certainty of ownership, there is much speculation surrounding the tall ship. In any case, the three decks are strongly reminiscent of the 93 metre long "Eos", which Lürssen completed for media mogul Barry Diller in 2006. There are hatches in the front part of the black hull, which speaks in favour of frontal storage of the tenders. The fact that Oceanco can build sailing yachts has been known since "Black Pearl" and "Aquijo". The tests of the sail systems are eagerly awaited, but also which name Jeff Bezos will choose.
