YYachts, the brand of former Hanse owner Michael Schmidt, is still on the upswing. After the Y7 and Y8 models were and are selling well, YYachts is now launching the Y9. The 27.40 metre long sloop is made entirely of carbon fibre and sails fast even in light winds. Its volume is comparable to that of a 100-foot yacht; its owner has access to his own flat with a private saloon, dressing room and bedroom. Michael Schmidt: "We have realised the comfort of a 100-footer in a length of 90 feet. The yacht also has an interesting rating for sailing at the front in regattas." The exterior design was created by Bill Tripp, while Norm Architects and Design Unlimited combined their expertise for the interior to create an elegant, Scandinavian look. The first Y9 is already under construction and is scheduled for delivery in 2021.
