NDR and Radio Bremen are continuing their documentary series about the work of sea rescuers on the North and Baltic Seas. Filming for the third season of the series has started. Six new episodes are to be shown at the end of the year.
NDR programme director Frank Beckmann explains: "Once you see what the rescue teams really do out at sea, you immediately understand why this work deserves every respect. They often work under conditions that demand everything of them. It is precisely these insights that we want to provide again with the new season of "Die Seenotretter"."
"Die Seenotretter" accompanies the crews on their missions on the high seas and impressively shows what it means to rescue people under extreme conditions. New to the programme are the Darßer Ort/Prerow, Borkum and Büsum stations. Their areas of operation are very different: they range from island harbours and inland seas to the open sea.
In addition to spectacular rescue missions, the third season focuses on the people behind the missions: their motivation, their stories, life on the stations and the strong cohesion within the teams. The series also provides an insight into the German Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) in Bremen. All operations on the North Sea and Baltic Sea are coordinated from there.
The documentary series stands for authentic storytelling, emotional moments and great respect for a task that requires courage, experience and dedication. It is produced by Kinescope Factual GmbH on behalf of NDR and Radio Bremen. The project is funded and produced by nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen mbH.
