Second Hamburg Yacht Festival in Wedel
The Hamburg Yacht Festival in Wedel opens its doors to the water sports enthusiast public for the second time. As in the first year, exhibitors will be presenting their latest boats, products and services on and around the water. The Yacht Harbour Opti Cup is designed to make it more attractive for children to take part.
Changing of the guard at Nautor Swan
The Italian motor yacht builder Sanlorenzo will initially take over 60 per cent of the Finnish shipyard. The remainder will be transferred in four years.
22nd Rolex Swan Cup off Sardinia
Almost 100 Swans and 1,500 active participants from 24 countries compete in the 22nd Rolex Swan Cup in the dream waters off Sardinia. Jan Opländer's team triumphs on the Swan 54 "Katima". The second GER victory goes to Frank Winter's Swan 36 "Isabella".
Harm Müller-Spreer narrowly misses out on championship
The bumpy start to the season off Palma is followed by an almost golden finale: with a new boat, Harm Müller-Spreer and his team on the Botin design "Platoon Aviation" pay a lot of tuition fees before the comeback succeeds. At the end of the season, the silver medallists were just one point short of the title. The Hamburg-based owner and helmsman from the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein has this to say: "Hopefully things will be better again next year. The ambition is there."
Pilot project launched
The pilot project funded by the federal government with 100 million euros to clear World War II munitions is starting in the Bay of Lübeck. An estimated 1.6 million tonnes of these contaminated sites lie at the bottom of the German North Sea and Baltic Sea.
Students build sustainable skiffs
Kiel students take part in the 1001 Vela Cup off Trieste with the flax fibre boat "Förderacer". Only university teams whose self-developed boats consist of at least 75 per cent recyclable materials are allowed to take part. In addition to the Kiel team, two other teams from Germany are also taking part.

Destruction after shipyard fire
A fire destroys Jens Christen's boatyard in Waren an der Müritz. The boat builder lost his life's work and his home. Thanks to an appeal for donations and the active help of friends, colleagues and neighbours, reconstruction has already begun.
"Amazon" brings confidence
The Kiel Youth Sailing Club is also feeling confident again. The traditional sailing ship "Amazone" has been found to replace the Marstal schooner "Zuversicht", which was forced to be scrapped. The association wants to get sailing again.
Sweden Yachts Group out of business
The report on the insolvency of the Sweden Yachts Group raises questions. The company's bankruptcy was announced in March, and now the investigations show that the manufacturer of Malö Yachts, CR Yachts, Sweden Yachts and Regina Yachts has been in serious difficulties for years.

'Where has the underwater hull gone? A Beneteau Oceanis 40.1 had run aground when entering the Swedish town of Grönhögen and had struck crossways. The salvage operation revealed the incredible extent of the damage caused by the accident.
Prerow port of refuge opened
The replacement for the Darßer Ort emergency harbour, which could only be used as an emergency harbour due to its location in the nature reserve and whose access was subject to constant silting, has been put into operation. At the end of the 720 metre longest pier in the Baltic Sea, 50 berths are now available as a stopover harbour for a stay of up to 24 hours.
New Zealanders defend America's Cup again
In the run-up to the big battle for the most prestigious trophy in international sailing, opinions are divided on what to expect. Will it be the most exciting or even the most boring Cup of all time? Until the start, it's hard to imagine what the match races on the foiling AC57 Cuppers will look like at speeds of over 100 km/h. In the end, the sailing world watches with great interest as the New Zealand defenders off Barcelona against the challengers from Great Britain confidently ensure that the Silver Cup remains a Kiwi Cup for the time being.
Surcharge in Turkey
In the popular Mediterranean region of Turkey, moorings for private yachts are subject to VAT due to the precarious economic situation. This means a price increase of 20 % for guests and permanent residents.
