Jasmine Harrison has been awarded the Chichester Trophy for her performance in the Mini Globe Race. The British sailor announced this on Instagram Harrison had completed her single-handed round-the-world voyage in March 2026, on a Globe 5.80-class boat just 5.80 metres long.
Award for an extraordinary journey
The Chichester Trophy is awarded for the most outstanding sailing achievement of the previous calendar year. The list of previous winners includes names such as Sir Francis Chichester, Robin Knox-Johnston, Clare Francis, Ellen MacArthur, Dee Caffari, Alex Thomson and Pip Hare.

Round-the-world voyage in a 5.80-metre boat
For sailors, it is the scale of the achievement that is particularly remarkable. Harrison sailed round the world as part of the Mini Globe Race on a tiny plywood ocean-going yacht. According to the organiser, the race took a total of 214 days. The race is regarded as an extreme form of single-handed sailing. The German Christian Sauer was also taking part.

An outstanding endurance athlete
But even before her round-the-world sailing voyage, the young British woman had repeatedly distinguished herself as a remarkable endurance athlete. In 2021, she made history as the youngest woman to row solo across the Atlantic. In 2022, she became the first woman to swim the entire length of Great Britain, from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The Chichester Trophy now adds one of the most prestigious honours in British offshore sailing to her career.
