A successor to Ulrich Ellerbeck, who has resigned, has been found at Kiel Fjord in the form of lawyer and notary Dr Carsten Krage

How the club Krage was elected as the new Chairman by a large majority at the Annual General Meeting last Wednesday. Sydney bronze medallist Dr René Schwall became the new Youth Director.

A press release continues: "Kiel's Lord Mayor and KYC member Dr Ulf Kämpfer reported on the status of the bid for the 2024 Olympic sailing competitions and emphasised the role of the Kiel Yacht Club, whose members unanimously pledged their support. In addition, the Executive Board was able to present a solid balance sheet and a budget surplus for 2014."

Born in Kiel, grew up on the water and on board, trained as a sailor in the club and sailing on the North and Baltic Seas. After school, navy and legal training, he worked as a trainee at YACHT from 2007-2009 in the Panorama department, which he now heads. He is also responsible for the special edition of YACHT classic, has published several books with Delius-Klasing and is deputy editor-in-chief of YACHT. Johannsen is an enthusiastic cruising sailor on his own keel and an active supporter of the German classic boat scene.
