In 2015, Cornell sailed through the Northwest Passage on the Garcia Exploration 45. He played a key role in the development of the boat

He is currently not planning any more long journeys. Therefore Jimmy Cornell the inventor of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), has decided to move away from his "Aventura IV" to separate. The Garcia Exploration 45 aluminium yacht is designed for worldwide cruising and especially for trips to extreme areas. Much of Cornell's decades of long-distance cruising expertise went into its development. The boat is now for sale in Cherbourg in Normandy. The price: 599,000 euros (excluding VAT).

Since its completion in spring 2014, the "Aventura IV" has travelled around 24,000 nautical miles in its wake. The highlight of her voyages was the successful journey through the Northwest Passage from west to east last year. A year earlier, Cornell had already travelled with the yacht along the southwest coast of Greenland in order to tackle the Northwest Passage from east to west. However, the attempt failed as the ice did not clear the way.

The "Aventura" is 13.98 metres long, 4.43 metres wide and has a variable draught of 1.05 metres to 2.80 metres. Its displacement is 14.1 tonnes; there is room for six to eight people on board. In YACHT 13/2014 we presented the ship.

Anyone who wants to ask the owner about the "Aventura" in person will have the opportunity to do so on the second weekend in June in Rostock-Warnemünde. Jimmy Cornell will be giving a presentation on the success factors of a happy long-distance cruise at the 1st YACHT Bluewater Symposium (10 to 12 June 2016). At the same time, other exciting long-distance yachts from renowned shipyards will be presented in Hohe Düne harbour. The complete lecture and exhibition programme as well as the registration form are available at www.yacht-bluewater.de.
