Skipper Stefan Ramin (†)
The body parts found on Nuku Hiva were apparently those of the skipper of the "Baju" - the circumstances of his death remain unclear

On the temporarily switched off Website of the blue water sailor Stefan Ramin from Haselau in Schleswig-Holstein, the family confirmed the death of the 40-year-old today: "After three years, the journey of the Baju ends with the tragic death of Stefan. He has died where he always wanted to be his whole life."

Body parts found on the island of Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas have apparently been unequivocally attributed to the German. However, it is still unclear under what circumstances the skipper, who had been sailing around the world with his partner Heike D., 37, since 2008, died. The case caused an international stir because cannibalism was suspected. However, there is no evidence of this and the local public prosecutor's office strongly denies these allegations.
