President of the Langenargen yacht club found shot dead on the banks of the Argen on 27 October - apparently suicide

The president and managing director of the YCL, Jens Krose, had been missing since the early morning of 26 October. The police have ruled out external causes of death.

The police cannot yet confirm whether the death is connected to the events of last week. On 18 October, Krose was attacked and injured in his office at the harbour. 8000 euros, a laptop and a mobile phone disappeared. The police had doubts about Krose's account from the outset, and witness statements also speak against an assault.

The raid preceded an extraordinary general meeting. At the meeting on 21 October, Krose subsequently presented the 2004 cash audit. His actions were fully approved.

It is unclear whether Krose wanted to cover something up by faking a robbery or get money. Another mystery for the police is how the body was found: The missing man had been searched for hours earlier, even using helicopters, and had not been found.

Jens Krose was 63 years old and had been president of the YCL since the early 1990s. In the mid-nineties, he became the club's paid managing director. He was particularly committed to youth work. Krose was instrumental in making the club one of the most active regatta clubs on Lake Constance.
