Willi Illbruck's wife died just over a month after him

Christiane Illbruck is dead. The wife of the well-known Leverkusen manufacturer and "Pinta" owner Willi Illbruck died at her home in Pattscheid on 29 December at the age of 78. She was found lifeless in her bedroom in the morning.

The mother of the current company owners Michael and Sabina Illbruck was involved in most of her husband's decisions in the company and in sailing. She enjoyed accompanying the "boys" to regattas for the Admiral's or Sardinia Cup, and liked to stay in the local houses or in winter in Lech, where the family still feels at home today. Her husband Willi was also buried there on 18 December 2004.

In recent years, the likeable and warm-hearted golfer suffered increasingly from a serious illness that confined her to a wheelchair. Christiane Illbruck was the godmother of many of the "Pinta" and also of the "illbruck", which won the Volvo Ocean Race in 2001/02.
