The Mediterranean showed its most brutal side. A severe storm hit Sicily and Malta hard. A record wave height was measured. The consequences for owners and harbour operators were devastating: pontoons broke, boats sank and others were pushed ashore. Much of the damage was caused in places where people thought they were safe: the harbour.
