The mummified skipper found in his yacht died of natural causes. Nevertheless, the case takes a surprising turn

The German circumnavigator Manfred B. was found on his yacht "Sayo" at the end of February. According to media reports, the cause of death is now clear: Manfred B. died of a heart attack, according to the autopsy report. According to the report, the sailor had been dead for around seven days when he was found.

However, this is in stark contrast to a report from the Clipper Round The World Race, according to which the "LMAX Exchange" spotted the "Sayo" drifting south of Guam with a broken mast back in January. After a crew member went on board and discovered the dead body, the crew reported the discovery to the race organisers. They instructed the "LMAX Exchange" to continue the race and promised to get in touch with the local authorities. It is currently not known whether this has happened and whether the local authorities have made any attempts to recover the "Sayo" and its dead skipper. Guam is about 1000 nautical miles away from where the yacht was found.
