The 48-year-old family man Martin G. from Sennfeld in Lower Franconia was shot dead on a charter yacht in Wallilabou Bay on the night of 3 to 4 March. The crime has caused consternation in the scene - and raised many questions.
YACHT spoke to Stefanie Frei, a fellow sailor, about these questions. She describes the course of the crime, and it becomes clear that the man sleeping on deck had no chance: "They shot just like that." The crew was then robbed and the perpetrators disappeared.
The case has a number of peculiarities. There were other yachts in the immediate vicinity, just a few metres away - but nobody claims to have heard anything, nobody came to help. Nobody responded to an emergency call either. And the victims were subsequently caught up in the mills of the South Caribbean authorities.
Stefanie Frei recounts the events of the dramatic night and what happened before and after. It was a nightmare that she still carries around with her today: "I still can't quite believe that it really happened. Something like that usually only happens in films."
