Hiking boat, daysailer and sports equipment all in one: the Sarch S6 comes from Spain and can fulfil a wide range of requirements. The test in the new YACHT

The hull is made of plywood and covered with lots of carbon fibre, while the deck is made of GRP sandwich. It is not only the construction method of the Spanish shipyard Sarch that is unconventional, but also their boat concepts. Following the highly acclaimed debut, the small cruiser Sarch S7 (test in YACHT 19/19), the boat builders in Pego near Alicante have now launched a smaller Sarch S6, which, despite a hull length of just under six metres, offers an extremely wide range of possible uses. The small boat can be used as a racer suitable for regattas, as an uncomplicated daysailer or as a trailerable touring boat with a swing keel and a ready-to-sail weight of just 450 kilograms.

Michael Good is test editor at YACHT and is primarily responsible for new boats, their presentation and the production of test reports. Michael Good lives and works in Switzerland on the shores of Lake Constance. He has been sailing since childhood and, in addition to his professional activities, has also been an active regatta sailor for many years, currently mainly in the Finn Dinghy and Melges 24 classes. He is also co-owner of a 45 National Cruiser built in 1917. Michael Good has been working for the YACHT editorial team since January 2005 and has tested around 500 yachts, catamarans and dinghies in that time.
