Moorings in the harbours on Lake Balaton are also in short supply. Flaar Performance Sailing in Hungary is therefore planning a trailerable small cruiser that can be launched and retrieved via the slipway like a dinghy. To this end, the new Flaar 24 will be equipped with a retractable swivelling keel and two rudder blades attached to the stern. What's more, the ready-to-sail total weight of just 750 kilograms makes handling during transport even easier.
The keel has a ballast weight of around 200 kilograms. The fin can be raised via a bulkhead buoy and locked in any position. With a minimum draught of just 63 centimetres, the Flaar 24 remains easy and safe to manoeuvre even in shallow water zones. When fully lowered, the swing keel reaches an impressive 1.80 metres into the water.
A backstayless carbon fibre rig with diamond taper ensures good performance upwind. A powerful and fully battened squarehead mainsail is attached to this, along with the short overlapping furling genoa with 3D hoist point adjustment on deck. Either a gennaker or a furling code zero can be set on the comparatively very long, extendable bowsprit. Incidentally, the hull and deck are built entirely with a carbon sandwich using the vacuum infusion process. This makes the Flaar 24 even lighter when ready to sail than thoroughbred racing boats of the same size, such as the Melges 24 or the J/70.
Despite its sportiness and extremely high performance potential, the Flaar 24 should also be suitable as a weekender and cruising boat. Up to four people can sleep comfortably below deck. Additional amenities for touring, such as a cool box or a chemical toilet, are also available.
The shipyard has now also announced the prices. The Flaar 24 will cost 77,230 euros ready to sail, including 19% VAT, but still without the sails. The first boats are now being offered at a reduced introductory price of 70,2000 euros.
