How tragic maritime emergencies can be avoided - from prevention and equipping the ship to the right action in an emergency. Big guide

In an emergency, everything has to run smoothly, every move has to be right: Distress scenarios are the horror stories of most sailors. It is extremely rare that it actually comes to that. But if you don't buy the right equipment and know how to use it, you are taking a serious risk.

Although there are probably better things than preparing for life-threatening situations, it should always be part of the cruise preparation. Fixed procedures and roles are extremely important, especially for smaller crews, and can prevent a cancellation or worse.

We have drawn up checklists for various emergencies, which should be customised depending on the crew and ship. These include medical emergencies, mast or rudder breakages, people overboard, water ingress and fire on board.
