A trio with a wealth of experience: Tammo Baldszun, Holger Lehning and Florian Böhm are the new sales partners for the Doyle Sails brand in Germany

In August, the company Oleu-Segel GmbH in Heiligenhafen cancelled the business with Doyle Sails and has since been the contact for Elvstrøm Sails, YACHT online has reported on this. It was foreseeable that the well-known and internationally successful brand Doyle Sails, headquartered in New Zealand, would not remain without a contact in Germany for long.

Three well-known sailmakers are now stepping into the gap and taking over Doyle Sails' activities in this country. Tammo Baldszun and Holger Lehning will be available to sailors in the north of Germany with advice and support. Florian Böhm will remain the contact person in the south. Together, the three sailmakers will represent the Doyle Sails brand, from the far north to the far south. The three specialists are currently still working as a co-operative with their own regional responsibilities from the Bremen (Tammo Baldszun), Kiel (Holger Lehning) and Lake Starnberg (Florian Böhm) locations. A central company location is currently being established, and the possibilities for setting up a central sailmaking loft are also being examined.

Tammo Baldszun has been a sailmaker for over 20 years, many of which he spent working for North Sails, during which time he also built sails for the Volvo Ocean Race, the America's Cup and superyachts. Baldszun is also known in the industry for his involvement as a sailmaking specialist in many Grand Prix campaigns. He shares a particular passion for classic yachts, such as the metre classes 6mR, 8mR and 12mR, where he also has extensive expertise in sails.

Holger Lehning grew up with sailing. After optimists and 420s, he continued ambitiously in yacht sailing, and his hobby became a profession. After successfully completing his sailmaker training in Bremen in 2001, he spent a few years at North Sails on Lake Constance before his professional development brought him back to the north. Lehning has been self-employed since 2009 and has focussed on international regatta projects. He is also in great demand as a rigger, professional sailor or boat captain for German projects. This range of experience makes him an all-round talent when it comes to optimising boats.

Thanks to his many years in the water sports industry, he has a wealth of experience in deck layout, boat fittings and equipment and is an absolute expert for all sailors, whether on dinghies or yachts. Florian Böhm has been working as a sailmaker for more than two decades.
