The Vendée Globe is the toughest single-handed sailing race around the globe, in which participants cover around 45,000 kilometres across the world's oceans. In this episode, Jochen Rieker provides interesting insights into the challenges and successes of Boris Herrmann. Despite unforeseen weather conditions and setbacks, he continues to fight for a top position in the fleet. Jochen Rieker reveals which aspects and characteristics help the Malizia skipper in this endeavour.
How has Boris Herrmann developed since the last edition of the regatta? By working with a coach and having unrestricted access to the internet on board, the sailor has been able to develop certain strengths. Jochen Rieker explains which approaches have helped him in the 27th episode.
Important questions are also addressed, such as how Boris Herrmann's position in the race has changed, what technical challenges he faces in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific and what design changes he might consider for his next boat.
The Malizia skipper is currently in 8th place and is fighting hard to get to the top. With a gap of around 1,100 miles to the leader Charlie Dalin, the question is whether Boris can still turn the tide.
