In twelve minutes, the organisers once again show the highlights and also the low points of this 13th edition of the most famous team race around the world. The clip remembers the people who have shaped the Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18. Like John Fisher, who paid for his lifelong dream with his life when he went overboard in 35 knots of wind in the Southern Ocean and could not be found again by the desperately searching Sun Hung Kai / Scallywag team - in life-threatening conditions.

How it all began and how exciting it ended: a film summary of the 13th edition of the Volvo Ocean Race

The tribute shows Dongfeng driver Charles Caudrelier, who triumphed for the first time as skipper with his second victory. Carolijn Brouwer, who, together with Marie Riou and Justine Mettraux, was the first woman to win the eight-month ocean marathon. 720 seconds doesn't sound very long. And yet there are so many memorable moments in this film - a "must-see" for fans. The sailors themselves have their say. AkzoNobel's new 24-hour record for the Volvo Ocean Race of 602.54 nautical miles is honoured as an outstanding achievement. The images trace the crews' battle with the elements. The setbacks caused by broken equipment as well as the many thrillingly close finishes that made this race the most exciting in its 45-year history.
