The lead has changed again, after a gybe to the west Dongfeng has taken the lead. Only 800 nautical miles to Newport

All the boats have reached the Bermuda Triangle, but what happens there is anything but mysterious. The transition between two wind systems was also accompanied by a change in the classification. The south-westerly breeze turned further and further to the right and weakened, and the fleet finally eased to the west. The new wind set in from the north-west. Dongfeng Race Team benefited the most, as they were able to break away from the field.

The field is divided into three groups, Brunel is just under eight nautical miles behind, Abu Dhabi almost 13, Mapfre and Alvimedica are already more than 30 nautical miles behind, SCA almost 80.

Is this already a preliminary decision? "It's going to be a close finish," predicts Abu Dhabi skipper Ian Walker, "every boat, and by that I mean SCA, still has a chance to win." The fleet is sailing on an upwind course to the north-west, but cannot call at Newport in the current conditions. There is currently still an area of high pressure directly in front of Newport

The arrival, with just under 900 nautical miles to go, probably on 7 May, promises to be exciting.
