After being transported by road from the Multiplast shipyard in Vannes to the Groupama team's headquarters in Lorient, "Groupama 4", Franck Cammas' new Volvo 70, was launched for the first time on Saturday at around 2 p.m. local time. Around 50,000 man-hours are said to have gone into its construction. As with the previous boat launches for the Volvo Ocean Race, which starts at the end of October, "Groupama 4" is also a Juan Kouyoumdjian design with a pronounced buckling frame.

Cammas, who holds the record for non-stop round-the-world sailing with a crew with the trimaran "Groupama 3" and played a decisive role in BMW Oracle winning the America's Cup, wants to show that he can also succeed on monohulls and in stage races around the world. Sailing is already scheduled for this week. The first race appearance of "Groupama 4" is scheduled for 14 August at the Fastnet Race.
