The start of the Volvo Ocean Race can be followed via various channels. And fans can virtually sail the regatta around the world

On Saturday, 11 October, the first stage from Alicante to Cape Town starts at 14:00. The start will be broadcast live. The first in-port race on 4 October already whetted the appetite for more due to the excellent preparation. What's more, the fleet won't be sailing straight up and away and disappearing behind the horizon, but a preceding competition course, as can be seen on the graphic, will provide action.

On TV
The broadcasting rights for Germany are held by N-TV. So far, however, there is no corresponding entry in the Programme preview to be found. The best thing to do is simply switch on at the start time, the channel is free to air. Or try other channels, as rights have been granted to more than 100 stations. Here is the list.

Live stream
The organiser broadcasts the self-produced material via the video platform YouTube on its own website. Homepage from. However, this video stream is blocked in Germany due to the rights situation, at least this was the case with the In-Port Race. However, it should be possible to watch the broadcast directly via Youtube and with appropriate browser extensions.

App
The organiser has just launched an app for the Volvo Ocean Race in the relevant stores for Android and Apple -smartphones and tablets. After the free download, it should be possible to receive the live stream of the start. During the race, the app will offer a race tracker to follow the fleet.
