Late, but not too late, there is a decent viewer for the Volvo Ocean Race. The provider MeteoEarth which has already been realised via the so-called Dashboard of the Volvo Ocean Race, which showed the weather situation around the world and therefore also above the race, has also recorded the teams' position data. The tracks are even shown continuously since the start; the data is synchronised with the position reports from on board.
The viewer was already planned at the start of the race, but has only now been finalised, according to the manufacturer. This is all the more pleasing as the animated presentation of the race progression was previously significantly worse than in previous races.
But it is now excellent. In addition to the positions, the isobars, wind, temperature, cloud cover and precipitation can also be displayed. It has not yet been decided whether further navigational aids - such as waypoints, orthodromes or degree networks - will follow.
