The Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team is currently in the lead: there was no need to save on water there
The faulty watermaker has been repaired, meaning that there is no need to desalinate the lake water by hand for the time being. But will the repair hold?

Four and a half hours of pumping on the emergency watermaker threatened the Dongfeng crew for almost the entire sixth stage - because the main watermaker had broken down one day after the start. This could also have meant the end of this leg, as desalination with the emergency watermaker is not only very strenuous, but it was also unclear how long it could withstand the intensive use. If this watermaker had also failed, an emergency harbour would have had to be called at, which would have meant an enormous delay.

How the watermaker was repaired

However, the machine-operated watermaker could be repaired with carbon fibre and epoxy. However, it is uncertain how long this repair will last.
