Positions and distances today at midday
The western course has paid off for the Emirates team for the time being. But the tactical situation remains extremely difficult for everyone

Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing's early gybe and the associated more westerly course than the main field have paid off for the time being. When the high pressure area was reached, the wind shifted to a northerly direction and made it necessary to cross. Skipper Ian Walker's team was able to position itself in a tactically favourable position upwind.

But according to the forecast, the wind is supposed to pick up from the south-east during the night, which would turn the windward position into a leeward one. The tide could turn completely. So it remains exciting.
