The 4,500 nautical mile offshore regatta will take the fleet around Europe in several stages, with stops in England, Portugal, Spain, France and Italy, before the teams arrive in Boka Bay in Montenegro in mid-September. All seven teams will compete with foiling Imoca boats.
This spectacular regatta, especially the start in Kiel, offers sailing enthusiasts the chance to experience top international sailors up close and follow the development of modern ocean yachting. Seven high-calibre teams with Imoca yachts will compete against each other in The Ocean Race Europe 2025. The most prominent participants include Team Malizia (GER) under skipper Boris Herrmann, Team Holcim PRB (SUI) with Rosalin Kuiper, Team Paprec Arkéa (FRA) under the leadership of Yoann Richomme and VULNERABLE TR Racing (FRA) with Thomas Ruyant.
The Ocean Race Europe 2025 starts on 10 August in Kiel, Germany. The 850 nautical mile first leg will take the fleet to Portsmouth, England. In the second leg, the teams will sail 1,400 nautical miles to Cartagena, Spain - with a flypast in Matosinhos/Porto in Portugal. The 650 nautical mile third leg through the Mediterranean ends in Nice, France, before the fleet sets off for the planned 600 nautical mile fourth leg to Genoa, Italy. The approximately 1,000 nautical mile long fifth and final leg takes the crews into the Adriatic Sea to the finish in Boka Bay, Montenegro. The regatta ends with the final scoring race on 20 September in Boka Bay.
The starting signal for The Ocean Race Europe 2025 will be given in Kiel on 10 August. From 6 to 10 August 2025, The Ocean Race Europe can be experienced up close in Kiel. Visitors can look forward to a four-day water and land programme with cultural, sporting and environmental protection activities to take part in and experience - free of charge and outdoors. Following the successful fly-by event, Kiel will once again be at the centre of top international sailing in 2025.
