Wassersport-Verein Hemelingen (WVH) has won the second regatta of the 2nd German Sailing League off Tutzing on Lake Starnberg. The Hemelingen team with helmsman Jan Seekamp, Wilhelm von Weyne, Jens Tschentscher and Sören Hadeler came out on top in the exciting final phase with a one-point lead against the Munich Yacht Club with helmsman Kai Niederfahrenhorst, Max Adami, Marc Anschütz and Basti Henning.

The co-favoured Hamburg Sailing Club, which started the regatta impressively with three victories on the day and match race specialist Silke Hahlbrock at the helm, was able to fight its way to third place on the podium after a slowdown in the final spurt in the three-day league encounter on B/ones. The Hanseatic team of Hahlbrock, Anke Scheuermann, Marion Rommel and Daniel Zenker thus increased their second league tally to 33 points.

However, the Münchner Yacht-Club has also sailed to 33 points in the two second league regattas so far and has therefore taken the lead over the Hamburg team for the time being thanks to its better placing on Lake Starnberg. The Bayer-Uerdingen sailing club (relegated from the first division) and the Hemelingen water sports club are in third and fourth place with 32 and 31 points respectively. The Potsdamer Yacht-Club can also be counted among the quintet of frontrunners with 26 points.

The red lantern of the bottom of the table hangs for the time being at Duisburger Segel-Club after the guest appearance at the German Touring Yacht Club. In Tutzing, the Duisburg team did not finish higher than last place in the field of 18 club teams and will have to fight to stay in the league alongside other relegation-threatened clubs at the third and final second league regatta on Lake Constance from 26 to 28 September.

At the end of the season, the top three teams can look forward to direct promotion to the 1st Sailing Bundesliga. Places four to six qualify for participation in the relegation play-off, which will be held this autumn against the clubs in places 13 to 15 at the end of the 1st Sailing Bundesliga. The first division clubs in places 16 to 18 will be relegated directly to the 2nd Sailing Bundesliga after the first division final from 31 October to 2 November on the Outer Alster in Hamburg.
