Around 65 yachts made up the fleet of Denmark's largest classic event. The 40th anniversary of the Grinde was also celebrated

The Danish classic car scene is more regionally organised than in Germany. To Svendborg but many yachts from abroad also regularly come here. This year, even GRP classics were permitted - provided they were designed by the Danish designer Peter Bruun.

They are called "Marsvin", "Spækhugger", "Grinde" and "Kaskelot" and are considered pioneers of bionics. In fact, the sea creatures that gave them their names were the inspiration behind Bruun's design of the four then radically modern pointed gates.

The rest of the fleet presented the typical picture at such events. On Lunkebucht in front of Waldemar's Slot, metre yachts, pointed creels, skerry cruisers and folk boats battled it out in very changeable conditions for regatta silver and the prestigious Sophus Weber Cup.

The 10-metre racing yacht "Kelpie" from England had the longest journey. The 111-year-old yacht had travelled from the Solent to Svendborgsund.
