Back again: the fast Streamline keelboats

It all started with the Pirate. Then came the Sportina 600, and most recently the championship of champions took another technological leap forward...

Since 2001, Germany's best sailors have been battling it out on identical Streamline keelboats, the fastest and most demanding sports equipment to date at this top-class event.

The Streamline made its debut at the beginning of 2000 and impressed right from the start. The Judel/Vrolijk design combines a high speed potential on room-sheet courses with perfect upwind characteristics. This makes the three-man vessel clearly superior to other sports boats such as the J24 and Bénéteau 25. It has proven its special status in high-ranking international match races.

The idea came from the Austrian entrepreneur and regatta sailor Andreas Labek. The Streamline is being built at the renowned Mader shipyard in Waging.

The first YACHT test commented on the promising concept: "What the trio of initiator, designer and boat builder have conjured up on the water is really fun."

The three-man keelboat is built from epoxy sandwich and weighs only approx. 600 kilos when ready to sail. Four watertight compartments make it unsinkable. Upwind, the Streamline has 30 square metres of sail area; the spinnaker has 45 square metres. The trim equipment is limited to the bare essentials (outhaul, boom vang, cunningham).
