Unbeatable on the first day: Helmut Jahn's "Flash Gordon"
Wolfgang Stolz from Frankfurt ranks 7th at the Farr 40 World Championships

After the first day of the Farr 40 World Championship in Newport/Rhode Island, USA, Helmut Jahn is leading the field with his "Flash Gordon". The star architect, who designed the Frankfurt Trade Fair Tower, the Munich Airport Centre and the Sony Centre in Berlin, among others, is taking turns at the helm with his son Evan.

After the first two races of the first day, the Jahns (father Helmut steered the upwind courses, son Evan the downwind courses) are leading the fleet with two points from two victories. Currently in seventh place is Wolfgang Stolz from Frankfurt, who finished second in the second race behind the "Flash Gordon" team from Chicago. Unfortunately, Stolz finished 20th in the first race. Nevertheless, there is a good chance that he will move up further in the course of the World Championship.

"It was a dream day," said Helmut Jahn after the two races. He and his team have been working on their competitiveness for eight years now, and it seems that all the training is now bearing fruit.
