On Sunday, 223 sailing boats and their crews set off from Gran Canaria for Rodney Bay on the Caribbean island of St Lucia. After three days, the faster boats can already be distinguished from the slower ones.

Italian Rinaldo Del Bono is currently in the lead in the 21st edition of the Transatlantic Regatta. With his 24 metre maxi yacht "Capricorno", he has covered 271 nautical miles in the last 24 hours. This is the record distance travelled so far. He is followed in his class by two Swans, first the Swan 601 "Spirit of Jethou" from Sir Peter Odgen, followed by the new Swan 100 "Fantasticaa" from Lan Franco Cirillo.

George Vassilopoulos is leading the Racing Division on the Farr 520 "Brave". He managed an Etmal of 225 nautical miles and still has 2327 nautical miles to go to St Lucia. The Greek is closely followed by Nick and Annie Haigh's DK 46 "Dark & Steamy".

In the multihull class, Frenchman Stephane Grimault has taken the lead on board his Outremer 45 "Sir Henri". The German Jan-Peter Mahlstedt is hot on his heels with his Catana 582 "Timaios III".

This year, the ARC organisers are offering a very special service for those who want to follow the race from home. In cooperation with the service provider Google Earth, the positions of all fellow sailors can be called up at any time.
