Edelholz - this is the regatta in Berlin where the most beautiful and fastest wooden boats come together on the Wannsee and Havel right down to the Jungfernsee. This year, in addition to the 20-metre dinghy cruisers and the 5.5mR boats, which determine the best in Berlin, the 22-square-metre warping cruisers also took part last weekend; for this class, the regatta was the German competition to determine the best.
After a long wait, one more race was sailed on Saturday. Another was cancelled shortly after the start due to a wind shift of almost 90 degrees and was not restarted.
Sunday started in a similar way to how Saturday ended - without wind. But in the early afternoon a NNE wind of up to eleven knots set in on the Wannsee, which was enough for a nice three-lap race. The second race of the day was shortened in time. This meant that three races were scored and the challenge prize could be awarded.
Matthias Grothues-Spork, Oliver Witte and Lika Valentien from the Berlin Yacht Club won the 22 square metre archipelago cruiser. Martin Cross and Matt Bergmann-Smith from the Australian Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club won the 5.5-mR together with Joachim Fluhrer from the Seglerhaus am Wannsee club. The winners of the 20-metre dinghy cruisers were Thomas Flach from the Berliner Tourenseglerclub Blau-Weiß, Harald Schaale from the Freie Vereinigung der Tourensegler Grünau 1898 and Sven Diedering from the Yachtclub Wieck.
