After the first races of the World Championship of Offshore Powerboats in Trieste/Italy, the sleek water boats are now coming to Travemünde.
The event begins with practice runs on Friday, 5 July, and reaches its climax on Sunday, 7 July between 16:30 and 17:00 with the German Grand Prix 2002.
The mini powerboat races, which are held several times a day in front of the Nordermole, should also be exciting. Spectators can follow the roaring powerboats up close on the banks of the Trave.
On Saturday there will be time trials, which will be held in pairs. The start is on the River Trave near the car ferry. Then it's out onto the time trial course in front of the Nordermole, where the timekeeping finally begins.
Deutsche Bahn is running special trains due to the expected rush of visitors. A total of 16 additional trains will run between Lübeck main station and Travemünde during the Powerboat weekend. The departure times can be found on the Internet at www.bahn.de/presse listed.
